Owned and operated by Orion Thornton, Onsite Energy is a Bozeman Montana based solar electric company built on a strong foundation of renewable energy knowledge and environmental awareness. Orion received his first glimpse of solar electricity while growing up off-grid in Northwest Montana, and after working in the solar industry for many years, started Onsite Energy in 2012

With a goal of providing high quality solar energy services to his home state, combined with extensive experience in the industry, Onsite Energy has quickly become one of Montana’s premier solar energy providers. Orion’s experience includes an A.A.S. Degree in Solar Photovoltaic Design and Installation, North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Certification, and over 200 solar PV projects designed and project managed, from small stand-alone systems to large commercial projects.  In addition to operating Onsite Energy, Orion also works as a contract instructor for Solar Energy International (SEI), a premier solar training institute based out of Carbondale, Colorado. Residing in a net-zero energy home, powered by solar electricity, solar thermal, and wood heat, Orion is dedicated to a lifetime of learning, working, and living with renewable energy technologies.
