About

2012 marked IREC’s 30th year as a leader in the renewable energy community, known for connecting people, ideas and technology to produce measurable results.

As we begin the next 30 years, IREC, a non-profit corporation with tax-exempt status, has worked with industry, government, educators and other stakeholders to ensure that the broader use of renewable energies is possible, safe, affordable and practical for us all. Our successes are embedded in national energy policies and in updated utility and industry standards and best practices. And our expert input continues to shape rules and regulations in more than 40 states.

While we’ve worked hard and long and often quietly, we’ve become broadly recognized as a unique resource and conduit for change in the renewable energy arena. Our ability to identify obstacles early and our problem solving approach has continued to shape our identity, raise our national and international profile, and positioned us as a thought leader in the renewable energy community.

As the renewable energy landscape continues to evolve, IREC remains committed to identifying critical issues before they become critical issues, assembling the best teams to tackle them, and producing policies and programs that benefit and grow the industry. We’ll remain at the forefront of education, rulemaking and workforce development, including programs and policies lead to easier, more affordable connection to the utility grid; fair credit for renewable energy produced; best practices for states, municipalities, utilities and industry; and quality assessment for the growing clean energy workforce through the credentialing of trainers and training programs.
