Absolutely Solar’s founder and CEO, Peter Weich, emigrated from Germany to the US more than 20 years ago, with degrees and expertise in electrical engineering and contracting. In 2001, Peter started Absolutely Solar Inc. (ASI), a full service solar PV installation company offering design and construction services for a wide variety of commercial and residential photovoltaic roof top systems.

Over the last 10 years, ASI has designed and installed hundreds of PV systems. ASI has utilized the California Solar Initiative and City of Los Angeles DWP subsidized, net-metering programs and has generated hundreds of thousands of dollars in state and local rebates and federal grants and tax credits. Based on a competitive Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process, Solar Santa Monica selected ASI as one of its original Preferred Solar Contractors. In 2003, Peter installed the largest PV system on a multi-family building in Santa Monica to that time. ASI is planning to break ground for the construction of its first 1.5 MW system in the third quarter of 2011
