SunWork is a nonprofit working in California’s San Francisco Bay Area and Central Coast that installs rooftop solar PV systems and heat pump water heaters with the help of trained volunteers. By making decarbonization measures more affordable for homeowners and other nonprofits while supporting workforce development and volunteerism opportunities within the community, SunWork puts climate action within more people’s reach

SunWork takes care of every aspect of a solar or heat pump water heater project, from site analysis and system design, to permit and rebate applications, to installation, inspection, and continued support. SunWork is deeply committed to creating a safe, energetic, enjoyable, and meaningful experience for its volunteers, and to achieving the highest standard of quality and convenience for its customers.

Since its founding in 2005, SunWork has trained more than 3,000 volunteers, installed over 1300 solar PV systems (almost 7 MW), and replaced more than 150 gas-burning water heaters with heat pump water heaters at homes, preschools, shelters, meal centers, places of worship, and nonprofit organization headquarters around the state.
