Rebates

San Diego’s Supplemental Development Regulations passed initially in 1997 but since has had many additions and alterations, some as recent as 2020. San Diego’s Supplemental Development Regulations require that a “Shadow Plan” be developed when it is determined that structures or landscaping within a proposed development may have an impact on neighboring property’s access to solar exposure. This is intended to ensure that potential impacts to solar access will be minimized. (§143.0410 section i)

Maine offers a property tax exemption for solar and wind energy equipment generating heat or electricity, as long as all of the energy is (1) used on-site where the property is located or (2) transmitted through the facilities of a transmission and distribution utility, and a customer or customers receive a bill credit for the energy produced.

Dominion Energy provides rebates to its business customers for installing energy efficient food service equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC and water heating equipment, and certain weatherization measures. Some equipment rebates vary depending on the efficiency level of the equipment. Applications and more details are available through the web site listed above.

Lakeland Electric offers a zero-interest loan program to its customers who wish to make energy efficiency upgrades. Eligible measures include windows, HVAC, heat pump water heaters, air sealing and insulation, solar PV, geothermal heat pumps, and solar water heater systems. The minimum loan amount is $500 and the maximum is $5,000. There is also a one-time filing fee that will be applied to a customer's utility bill. For a $5,000 loan, this fee has been around $90.50. Loans are repaid monthly after the project has been completed.

NOTE: the 2024-2025 Grant Program application window opened on September 20, 2024. It will remain open until funds are exhausted.

Established in July 2004, the PA Small Business Advantage Grant Program provides matching funds to for-profit businesses with a maximum of 100 full-time equivalent employees for improvements in energy efficiency and pollution prevention. The business must also be the primary source of employment for at least one full-time employee. 

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) administers the grants, providing up to $12,000 for proposed projects with significant environmental savings in environmental justice areas. The DEP provides a Small Business Advantage

ThermWise is a Dominion Energy program that promotes the use of energy-efficient appliances and practices to reduce natural gas usage. Through this program Dominion Energy provides incentives for commercial and industrial customers who incorporate energy efficiency into their facilities. All equipment requirements must be met in order to participate. These rebates are for Dominion Energy customers only, Dominion does not service all of Idaho, check to confirm your service area before beginning the application. The program application and more details about incentive amounts and efficiency requirements are located on the program website.

In 2017, New York passed Assembly Bill 260, adding electric energy storage equipment and systems as eligible for an exemption from real property taxes for certain energy equipment.

Other equipment included in the exemption includes micro-hydroelectric energy systems, fuel cell electric generating systems, and micro-combined heat and power generating equipment systems (added in the 2017 bill), as well as solar, wind, and farm waste energy systems (previously included).

Southwest Gas Corporation (SWG) offers rebates to commercial customers in Arizona who purchase energy-efficient natural gas equipment. Customers may apply for custom incentives. The Colorado Clean Energy Fund provides loans for home energy upgrades through the Residential Energy Upgrade (RENU) Loan Program. Participants must work with a RENU-approved contractor to identify energy improvements and receive a cost estimate. Customers must then apply for the loan through Elevations Credit Union.  See website above for more information.

Central Georgia EMC offers a loan program to homeowners who wish to pursue energy efficiency improvements. All energy efficiency improvements must meet Energy Star Criteria in order to qualify for the loan program. Loan amounts vary depending on the project.
