U.W. Madison mechanical engineering alumni, Burke and Mark O'Neal, started Full Spectrum Solar in August 2002 as “Light Energy Systems,” when lead engineer Burke O’Neal returned from his position with the California-based Light Energy Systems. Full Spectrum Solar is one of the most highly-credentialed solar energy contractors in the midwest. Among our experienced staff, we have three degreed mechanical and electrical engineers, with over 30 years of combined renewable energy experience between them. On staff we also have two licensed master electricians with 15 and 19 years of experience, three journeyman-level electricians, four NABCEP-Certified Installers, and several solar-experienced roof installation technicians.

We are proud of our zero-energy-cost office and shop on East Washington Ave and our energy-efficient vehicles, including two electric vehicles. In early 2013, our office and shop was awarded an ENERGY STAR 100/100 rating. That’s the highest rating in Wisconsin; better than 99 percent of comparable buildings!

 Our team has installed over 800 of the finest quality solar energy systems in southern WI, for homes, apartments, and a wide variety of businesses and non-profits. Our most visible projects include Forest Edge Elementary School, Yahara River View Apartments, Willy Street Co-op, Troy Gardens Co-housing, and Holy Wisdom Monastery in Dane County; the Milwaukee Recycling Center in Milwaukee; Organic Valley Cooperative in La Farge; Evansville Community Pool in Evansville; and Dominican Eco-Justice Center in Racine.
