The West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund (WPPSEF) promotes the use of renewable energy and clean energy among commercial, industrial, institutional and residential customers in the West Penn market region. Eligible technologies include solar, wind, low-impact hydro, sustainable biomass such as closed-loop biomass and biomass gasification, and innovative natural gas technologies as well as energy efficiency. Clean energy refers to advanced technologies, including landfill gas and fuel cells, which use fossil fuels but have significantly lower emissions and waste than current commercialized technologies and fuels derived from waste.

The City of Seattle offers free weatherization services to residents who meet income qualifications. Services are available to both homeowners and renters, and may include energy audits, insulation, heating systems, air sealing, bathroom fans, and more. The City also offers low-interest loans to low- and moderate-income residents through its Home Repair Loan Program.

NOTE: On August 2015, NYSERDA increased the incentive levels for technologies offered under the Renewable Heat NY program. In general, new incentives fund up to 45% of the total project cost, which is a significant increase from previous incentive cap of 25% of the total cost for most projects. Renewable Heat NY program offers rebates to install high-efficiency, low-emission wood heating system for residential and commercial customers in New York. The program is administered by New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and is funded through the Regional Greenhouse

The Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) administers the Weatherization Program through grants to local service providers. Alaska residents that meet income criteria are eligible to receive weatherization services from their local provider at no cost. The program is available to homeowners and renters. Homes that have been weatherized prior to 2008 may also apply. Interested residents should contact a weatherization provider to apply; the list of providers is available on the AHFC program website. 

Albuquerque replaced its Zoning Code, Subdivision Ordinance, and Sector Development plans in 2018 with an Integrated Development Ordinance (IDO) that is updated annually. The IDO states that the city "may not approve any subdivision application for property on which there are any deed restrictions, covenants, or binding agreements prohibiting solar collectors from being installed on buildings or erected on the lots or parcels within the application."

The IDO also includes standards for maximum building heights intended to ensure continued access to solar energy. Specific requirements for buildings can be found on page 343.
