Lane Electric Cooperative offers a variety of weatherization and energy efficiency grants to Lane Electric residential customers. Cash grant offerings for weatherization measures are 25% of measure costs, up to $1,000 for residential customers. For low-income residential customers, this maximum is $1,500 or $3,800 for qualifying ductless heat pump installations.

Lane Electric Cooperative provides rebates for heat pumps. Lane Electric Cooperative must receive the necessary application forms in order to be eligible for rebate. Members installing a new or replacing an existing heat pump can apply for a $500 heat pump rebate OR a zero-percent (0%) loan up to $9,000. Rebates for heat pumps must be applied for within 30 days of system installation. Expect pre- and post-authorization by Lane Electric's Energy Services Department.

The City of Chicago encourages building design, construction, and renovation in a manner that provides healthier environments, reduces operating costs, and conserves energy. The Department of Buildings offers three programs for projects that include green elements, the Green Permit Benefit Tier Program, the Green Permit Program, and the Solar Express Program. The Green Permit Benefit Tier Program offers qualifying projects an expedited permit process and a possible reduction of permit fees. The Green Permit Program also offers projects with green elements (geothermal systems, green roofs, photovoltaic systems, rainwater harvesting systems, solar thermal panels, and wind turbines) a priority review process

The Chicago Energy Conservation Code (CECC) requires residential buildings applying for building permits to comply with energy efficient measures which go beyond those required by the Illinois Building Energy Code. The applicability of the CECC to commercial construction was superseded when the state of Illinois adopted the more stringent IECC 2009 model code. Illinois state law in 2009 also mandated the IECC 2009 model code for residential buildings, but allowed for cities of home rule and more than 1,000,000 people (which includes Chicago) to adopt more stringent rules.

LEED Silver Building Requirement

The City Council of Austin passed a resolution (Resolution No. 20210902-042) in June 2020 requiring that all future building projects be built in accordance with the standard of the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver. The overall goal is to ensure that the City of Austin's facility portfolio is leading the way in conserving energy, water and other natural resources, promoting human health, safety and wellness, and ensuring a high-quality built environment.

The policy applies to all City capital improvement projects and third-party financed projects such as P3s

On September 19, 2019, Arlington County adopted an updated Community Energy Plan (2019 CEP), which includes a goal for Arlington to be a Carbon Neutral Community by 2050. The 2019 CEP reports that 58% of greenhouse gas emissions are generated by buildings in Arlington. The Green Building Incentive Policy is the primary tool currently available to encourage the private sector to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in new construction to help achieve Arlington’s long-term carbon emission goals. In the policy, bonus density is offered in exchange for new developments that commit to specific sustainability criteria.

2020 Green Building

Kootenai Electric Cooperative offers incentives for residential customers to increase the energy efficiency of participating homes. Rebates are available for the purchase of ENERGY Star qualified clothes washers, certified homes, as well as water heaters, air-source and geothermal heat pumps, and windows. Qualified homes must have a heat pump installed according to ENERGY Star specifications.

Eau Claire Energy Cooperative offers rebates to commercial and agricultural customers for the purchase of energy efficient appliances, central air conditioners, air source and geothermal heat pumps, water heaters, and agricultural equipment. Customers who install energy efficiency measures or equipment not listed on this program may still be eligible for rebates through the Focus on Energy program. Some rebates vary by the size, efficiency or capacity of the purchased equipment. Southeastern Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric cooperative that serves customers in the southeastern part of South Dakota. Southeastern offers a loan program for customers who want to install energy efficient heating and cooling systems in homes or businesses. Loans are also available for those who want to install weatherization measures, such as storm doors, insulation or caulking.

Loans are available at a 5% interest rate for the following:

• Geothermal, air-to-air heat pumps, or electric heat up to $10,000 for 7 years.
  
  
• Geothermal, air-to-air heat pumps, or electric heat under $5,000 financed for 5 years.

Northern Plains Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric cooperative that serves customers in east-central North Dakota. This EMC offers a low-interest loan program for commercial, industrial, agricultural, and local government customers that wish to undertake energy efficiency projects.
