Commercial & Industrial Solar Rebate Program

The New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission initiated a new solar rebate program for non-residential applicants in November 2010. Funded by alternative compliance payments under the state's renewable portfolio standard (RPS), this program supports solar photovoltaic (PV) and solar-thermal installations. Refundable Clean Heating Fuel Tax Credit (Corporate)

The state of New York began offering a corporate income tax credit for biodiesel purchases used for residential space heating and water heating beginning in 2006. The original credit was authorized for only one year from July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007. However, in 2008 the law was amended to reinstate the credit for purchases made between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2011. Local Option - Property Tax Exemption for Renewable Energy Systems

Alaska enacted legislation in June 2010 that authorizes municipalities to pass ordinances that exempt residential renewable energy systems from taxation. Residential renewable energy systems are defined as systems that use an energy source other than fossil or nuclear fuel, including wind, hydro and solar.

Waverly Light & Power - Residential Solar Thermal Rebates

Waverly Light and Power (WL&P) offers rebates for solar hot water heating systems to its residential customers. All purchases must be pre-approved through WL&P's solar water heater application process. In addition, residential customers must obtain a county-issued permit prior to installing a solar water heating system. There is a limit of one rebate per address. Funding is available until the rebate fund is exhausted.

Beaches Energy Services - Solar Water Heating Rebate Program

Beaches Energy Services offers a solar water heating rebate to their residential customers. This $500 rebate applies to new systems which are properly installed and certified. New construction and solar pool heating systems do not qualify for the rebate payment. Systems must be installed by a licensed Florida contractor and must be FSEC certified. City of Portland - Streamlined Building Permits for Residential Solar Systems

The City of Portland's Bureau of Development Services (BDS) developed a streamlined permitting process for residential solar energy system installations. The City of Portland has staff at the permitting desk trained as solar experts to assist solar contractors who need help filing their permits in person. Simple residential installations may apply for a combination building and plumbing/electrical permit, and proceed through planning and zoning and plan review process. If the installation complies with all requirements and all fees are paid, the permit will be issued the same day.

Sales Tax Holiday for Energy-Efficient Appliances

In November 2007, Maryland enacted legislation creating a sales and use tax "holiday" for certain energy-efficient appliances, beginning in 2011. Under the law, qualifying appliances purchased during a designated period are not subject to the state sales and use tax (6%). The holiday time frame is established as a three-day period running from "the Saturday immediately preceding the third Monday in February through the third Monday in February each year". In 2015, the holiday runs from February 14 to February 16.
