All residential and commercial structures are required to comply with the state’s energy code. The 2009 New Mexico Energy Conservation Code (NMECC), effective June 2013, is based on 2009 International Energy Conservation Code. The 2012 IECC is in effect for all residential and commercial buildings, Idaho schools, and Idaho jurisdictions that adopt and enforce building codes, unless a local code exists that is more stringent. Nevada State Energy Reduction Plan

As mandated by the Nevada statutes, the Nevada Energy Office prepared a state energy reduction plan which required state agencies, departments, and other entities in the Executive Branch to reduce grid-based energy purchases for state-owned buildings by 20% by 2015. The report suggests a series of immediate, short-term and long-term conservation measures to help the affected agencies meet their energy reduction goals.

In 2006 Iowa enacted H.F. 2361, requiring the State Building Commissioner to adopt energy conservation requirements based on a nationally recognized building energy code.    The 2014 Arkansas Energy Code is a combination of the International Energy Conservation Code and ASHRAE 90.1 standards. These standards exist in addition to the Arkansas Energy Code for New Building Construction Supplements and Amendments serve as the “Arkansas Energy Code” for residential and commercial builders in the state.
