Photovoltaic systems of 10 kW or less installed on 1- or 2-family residential units are eligible for streamlined permitting and a fee reduction. PV projects can use a combined electrical and building permit (an "EZ Permit") instead of filling out two separate permits if the project meets certain installation and electrical requirements (as outlined on the combined permit form).

Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) serves 12 member communities in Minnesota. Through these communities, MMPA offers rebates to residential customers for upgrading certain household equipment. Rebates are available for central air conditioners and air source heat pumps, mini-split ductless heat pumps, ECMs, dehumidifiers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, clothes washers, and LED bulbs and fixtures. MidAmerican Energy offers a variety of incentives for residential customers to improve the energy efficiency of homes. Eligible customers are eligible for rebates on furnaces, furnace fan motors, boilers, water heaters, air conditioners, air-source heat pumps, geothermal heat pumps and insulation. Funding for the year 2018 is depleted and MidAmerican Energy has suspended the 2018 electric and natural gas residential equipment programs.

After installing qualifying equipment, customers should submit a completed Equipment Rebate Application and a detailed invoice to MidAmerican. Heating and cooling dealers have a supply of Equipment Rebate Applications and will participate with customers. Applications must be postmarked by stated date in order to receive rebates.

Xcel Energy residential natural gas customers in Colorado can qualify for cash incentives on a variety of energy efficient products.
