In March 2009, the City of Bloomington passed an ordinance establishing the Green Buildings Program. This ordinance directed the City of Bloomington to incorporate green building principles into municipal facilities by committing to the use of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system, developed and awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), for projects involving city government buildings and facilities. 
Specifically, all new occupiable City of Bloomington buildings must be designed, contracted, and built to achieved LEED-NC Silver certification level at a minimum. The Green Buildings Program encourages certification beyond Silver (to Gold or Platinum)

MidAmerican Energy offers a variety of incentives for residential customers to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. Eligible customers are eligible for rebates on water heaters, air conditioners, air-source heat pumps and room ac units. Customers should see the equipment brochure for more rebate information and equipment requirements, or visit the web site below and choose their state under the Energy Efficiency tab. All equipment must meet full program requirements.

Funding for the year 2018 is depleted and MidAmerican Energy has suspended the 2018 electric and natural gas residential equipment programs.

MidAmerican Energy offers a variety of incentives for residential customers to improve the energy efficiency of participating homes. Electric customers of MidAmerican Energy qualify for rebates or discounts on programmable thermostats, air source heat pumps, add-on heat pumps, ground-source heat pumps, central air conditioning units and room air conditioning units. The Residential Equipment Brochure on the program web site above provides specific rebate amounts, details and requirements. After installing qualifying equipment, customers should submit a completed Equipment Rebate Application and a detailed invoice to MidAmerican. Equipment must be purchased, installed and operating between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024

In July 2009, the Delaware legislature enacted a law (HS 1 for H.B. 70) prohibiting unreasonable public and private restrictions on the installation of wind energy systems on single-family residential properties. The prohibition includes restrictions put in place by county and local governments; homeowner's associations; and organizations formed for the management of commonly owned properties. The provisions apply only to wind energy systems that qualify for support under the state Green Energy Fund -- which offers incentives for residential wind energy systems -- or similar programs administered by Delaware's State Energy Office.

In July 2009 Delaware enacted legislation prohibiting private covenants (i.e., homeowner's association rules) from restricting the use of roof or ground-mounted solar systems on privately owned residential dwellings. The law was amended in 2019 with the passage of HB 65, which voided all prior covenants or restrictions regardless of the date recorded (previously, legal instruments prohibiting solar recorded before January 1, 2010 were enforceable). 

Although the wording of the legislation refers generally to "solar energy", the title of the bill references only photovoltaic (PV) systems as eligible for these protections. Only single-family residential structures which are not considered common
