Energy Conservation Improvements Property Tax Exemption

NOTE: A.B. 260 enacted in October 2017 amends the property tax exemption adding micro-hydro, fuel cell, micro combined heat and power, and electric energy storage system and storage equipment to be eligible for tax exemption for any increase in the value through the addition of these systems for period of fifteen years. 

Qualifying energy-conservation improvements to homes are exempt from real property taxation to the extent that the addition would increase the value of the home. The exemption includes general municipal property taxes, school district taxes, and special ad valorem taxes, but does not apply to special assessments. Eligible properties

Xcel Energy - Residential and Hard-to-Reach Standard Offer Program

The Residential and Hard-to-Reach Standard Offer Programs provide incentives to "Project Sponsors" to install energy efficiency measures in Xcel's service area. Residential customers should contact a participating sponsor (awarded at the first of each calendar year) through the web site provided. Hard-To-Reach Customers are defined as customers with an annual household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines, and who have properly completed a PUCT-approved income verification form. All payments to Project Sponsors are based on kW and kWh savings. Examples of eligible projects include:

  • Envelope measures
  • Cooling and Ventilation Measures/Projects
  • Heating Measures/Projects

Xcel Energy (Electric) - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Programs

In addition to home energy audits, Xcel Energy offers rebates to Minnesota residential customers for the purchase of energy efficient HVAC systems, insulation, appliances and lighting equipment. Residential customers may also qualify for the Home Performance Rebate program, which offers incentives for comprehensive home upgrades.

Xcel Energy also offers the residential Saver's Switch program. Residents receive a bill credit during the summer months in exchange for agreeing to have their air conditioning systems cycled on and off during peak energy demand periods. Residents can also receive audits at 70% less than market value to help them determine the right energy-savings improvements

Xcel Energy - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Programs

Xcel Energy residential customers in Colorado can qualify for cash incentives on a variety of energy efficient products and home improvements. Standard rebates are available for heat pumps, central A/C systems, ground source heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, and insulation that meet the program requirements. Consult the program website for more specific information on the rebate structure. Only equipment which meets minimum efficiency standards will be included in rebate program. Measures may require installation by pre-qualified contractors and are subject to Xcel Energy installation verification.

Alliant Energy Interstate Power and Light (Gas and Electric) - Low Interest Energy Efficiency Loan Program

Interstate Power and Light (Alliant Energy), in conjunction with Wells Fargo Bank, offers a low-interest loan for residential, commercial and agricultural customers who purchase and install energy efficient measures. If a loan term of 12 months or less is chosen, the customer is eligible for a loan with no interest; longer terms are eligible for the 6.9% interest rate. All measures must meet minimum efficiency standards and be confirmed before installation in order to be eligible for this program.

If a customer qualifies for this loan's bank requirements, they will not have to pay any loan processing fees

Alliant Energy Interstate Power and Light (Gas and Electric) - New Home Construction Incentives

Interstate Power and Light's New Home Program gives incentives to builders and contractors who build energy efficient homes. A base rebate is available to those customers that make the minimum energy efficiency levels, based on the size of the house. Base reward amounts will be prorated for homes less than 1,800 square feet in size. Incentive payment for the base reward can be paid to the builder or the homeowner but cannot be split. Additional rebates are available for homes meeting a 47 and 42 for their HERS score and for homes using a qualified geothermal system.

Alliant Energy Interstate Power and Light - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Programs

Interstate Power and Light (Alliant Energy) offers residential energy efficiency rebates for Iowa customers for a variety of technologies. Rebates are available for the following:

Turlock Irrigation District - PV Rebate

Note: The Non-Residential Solar Rebate Program is fully subscribed. Applications received will be placed on a waitlist and will only be eligible for a rebate if a pending project is cancelled.

Turlock Irrigation District (TID) offers an incentive program to their customers who install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. In keeping with the terms of the California Solar Initiative, the incentive payment levels will decline over the life of the program in 10 steps as certain MW levels of PV systems are installed within the District. As of March 2016, the residential incentive is on the 9th step at $0.57

Duke Energy - Residential Efficiency Rebate Program

The Smart $aver® program offers incentives for residential customers to increase the energy efficiency of homes. Incentives are provided for qualifying heating and cooling equipment installation or service, heat pump water heaters, attic insulation with air sealing, duct insulation and sealing, and ENERGY STAR qualified variable-speed pool pump. Duke Energy Kentucky’s residential electric service customers residing in single-family homes, condominiums, mobile homes, townhomes and duplexes are eligible for some or all of the incentives, with eligibility requirements vary with technologies. Commercial Solutions

The Commercial Solutions Program is offered to any TNMP non-residential distribution customer, including retail, real estate, healthcare, hospitality and food service, manufacturing, and nonprofit organizations. Incentives are based on energy savings and awarded at the rates shown below. Beyond financial assistance, technical and communication support is provided to help participants identify energy efficiency opportunities, make informed financial decisions, successfully install energy-saving projects in their facilities and provide Press Releases to promote accomplishments.
